Xavier Rudd brought his special kind of love and his band The United Nations to Cairns for two sold out mid week shows last week and the crowd was truly delighted.
The show started off as high energy with the crowd dancing singing and clapping along and the multicultarlism of Rudd’s new band and the sound they create ranging variously from South African to Somoan beats created a party atmosphere.
Tracks from their new album, 'Nanna' featured heavily at the outset and the band’s two female singers added a depth to the usual Xavier Rudd show as did the guitar, bass, horns, flutes, percussion and drums increased the party vibe.
It was fantastic for Rudd to head to the far north and we hope he makes it up here again soon.
What will be interesting is to see if Xavier Rudd keeps this new found United Nationa Band vibe going moving forward…only time will tell.
