Suze DeMarchi and The Baby Animals Rocking Out
The 2025 version of Savannah in The Round was absolutely sectacular and whilst drawing records crowds, some 11,000 people on Saturday culminating in Zac Brown's show and over 30,000 attendees over the weekend it still felt like a country town fair full of friendly and easy going crowds who were there to have a fun time and listen to some music.
Talking to James Dein the promoter on the last day we thought the 5th year of the festival saw it really hit its stride.
Dein said "It certainly has...more people, bigger artists more of them, more local artists, it's just a great chain, it's a big machine and I just feel like this year it's really coming together and everyone's working in sync and it's just it's going really well."
"In terms of attendance we had over 10,000 in here on Saturday night. We are just putting the cumulative figures together, 5,000 on the Thursday night for the bull ride was incredible. We never had that sort of numbers on the first night in the past. I guess Friday is somewhere in between the two, but we'll come out at the end of the weekend with a cumulative figure of attendance. It's likely to be well north of 30,000 over the weekend."
The thing about this festival, Savannah In The Round is that it really strikes me is the family-friendly nature of this festival. I've never been anywhere where you can have eight-year-olds in the front of the pits, everybody looking after each other. It just makes it such a unique experience. how do you see this aspect ?
"Families and family values and regional audiences, it all goes together and when we first did all that planning we said Savannah would be a family friendly event and kids under 12 will be free. We want the family to come out as a family and enjoy music and join the family and all those the things that go with music to start as a family and it's wonderful.
when asked about any hints for next years line up Dein said "Oh look, it's the old story mate, you reach for the stars and you hit the mark and I can tell you there are a couple of nice internationals in the mix but it's a good mix of Australian bands as well."
