Jimmy Barnes Live @ Tanks Arts Centre

It was a family affair this show with the band filled with Jimmy’s kids, their partners and his wife on backing vocals but what a talented bunch they are especially Mahalia who almost sang her dad off the stage.

If you have ever wondered what it may be like to be at one of those intimate “Music Max” acoustic sessions with a band then tonight’s performance was your chance this semi acoustic and at times very rocking gig was intimate personified and is probably why Tanks Arts Centre is considered one of the best live venues in the country….not just for fans but for bands as well.

Jimmy’s performance was an opportunity to reflect on his career and his influences through his life, there were many songs he doesn’t normally perform live and some great stories and reflections of his childhood and growing up in Glasgow and Adelaide, that you normally wouldn’t here at a full Jimmy Barnes show where he belts out the hits.

But Jimmy did rock and he did belt out a few of the hits from his Cold Chisel days and his solo career….it was a jam packed two hour set that could have only been improved by letting people dance up the front like you should be able to do at a concert.
