Its been a little while since Bob Evans or his alter ego Kevin Mitchell the lead singer of Jebediah have been to Cairns, so it was exciting for this show which was to be a mixture of Bob Evans tunes and Jebediah hits to be played together for the first time.
Kev (Or Bob) is one of the 90s most prolific and interesting songwriters and with more than 20 years of material to choose from the set list had a lot of potential especially for those who were around in the 90s.
Starting the night off with “Nowhere Without You” set the tone for how the rest of the evening would proceed.
The show was peppered with stories between songs one of the funniest being the secret song they put on the start of their album “Big Beer Wall” which was so secret no one even knew it…
This was a show for fans, for sure, but I also got the feeling that it was a show for Mitchell to look back on his work over the years and reimagine and reflect on the songs he had created.
The setting of the venue and the intimate approach of Mitchell to the songs and the stories made this such a unique and beautiful experience one that he even brought to the merch table afterwards.
