It had been more than twenty years since I had seen Ed Kuepper last play and whilst the man is looking older his surly dry wit and immense guitar talent were in fine form during his performance at Tanks Art Centre.
His one man three guitar show went for almost two hours and even then he didnt really want to leave the stage. The Format for the show was made up entirely of requests by the audience many of which he obliged...except for songs from Saints albums he didnt even perform on.
Kuepper's guitar playing was exceptional and just to sit and watch him play for two hours was simply amazing. How one man can get a guitar to make those sounds is astonishing, and the sizeable crowd were up and dancing, clapping along and adding sound effects when directed.
Trying to provide a setlist of the show is difficult but highliights of the show was Electrical Storm off his first and highly acclaimed solo album, The Way I Made you Feel, Steam Train, Everything I've Got Belongs to You and Fireman Joe.
