Melbourne Ska Orchestra Live @Tanks Arts Centre
|
What a week, interest rates, cost of living crisis, bank collapses and yet 600 people or more managed to put all that in the background and come along to Melbourne Ska Orchestra and dance and sing for 2 hours at Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns on a Saturday night. It totally went off.
But maybe we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves here....
Nicky Bomba and his group of Ska disciples descnded upon North Queensland direct from the Gold Coast to celebrate with us Cairns folk the twentieth anniversary of this wonderful band...20 years...hard to believe
Supported by local band Koalition the Tank had already had a real party vibe by the time they had finished and when MSO hit the stage people were ready to dance, jump and sing
Nicky Bomba led the band through an amazing set that involved total crowd participation with call and repeat...boom shackala....
Stop motion and freeze moves that even involved prizes.
As well as random fancy dressed people being hauled on stage to dance along
Celebrating 20 years of performing meant telling the stories...of hoe the bus driver joined the band, How the saxophonist asked his girlfirned to marry him whilst on holidays in New orleand with his ex girlfriend...complicated isnt it...and Bomba even pulled off some of Rob Hirst drummming tricks byhitting things all over the place for his monumnetal drum solo
This was just what was needed for many people a fun night full of hijinx and music
